Education
acting classes and summer theatre day camps | The Playhouse offers seven-week acting classes in fall, winter and spring for children from grades K-12 and for adults of all ages. Playhouse classes offer a chance to investigate the basics of acting, improvisation, movement and theatre games, as well as acting for TV and film. Different classes are offered to different age groups at different times of year. The requirements for classes vary from instructor to instructor, but the intent of all classes is to introduce the student to the beginning concepts of performance. The Playhouse offers limited scholarships to this program. This year, the Playhouse offers classes at its Eden Park facility and two additional locations: Clifton Cultural Arts Center (3711 Clifton Avenue) and the Mayerson JCC (8485 Ridge Road, Amberley). All of our classes are taught by the same group of local theatre professionals. Are you on the hunt for something engaging, educational and entertaining for your young theatre enthusiast this summer? Each summer the Playhouse offers theatre day camps for students from first grade through high school. Students entering grades 1 and 2 are offered a two-hour creative dramatics program with a single instructor throughout. Students entering grades 3 and up take two weeks of half-day camps consisting of three classes. These include a class in acting and two other drama-related activities (such as improvisation, stage movement, stage combat and television acting). All classes are taught by working theatre professionals with extensive experience working with young people. The final day of camp culminates with a demonstration for an audience of family and friends. |
